In multihop wireless networks, designing distributed scheduling algorithms to achieve the maximal throughput is a challenging problem because of the complex interference constraints among different links. Traditional maximal-weight scheduling (MWS), although throughput-optimal, is difficult to implement in distributed networks. On the other hand, a distributed greedy protocol similar to IEEE 802.11 does not guarantee the maximal throughput. In this paper, we introduce an adaptive carrier sense multiple access (CSMA) scheduling algorithm that can achieve the maximal throughput distributively. Some of the major advantages of the algorithm are that it applies to a very general interference model and that it is simple, distributed, and asynchronous. Furthermore, the algorithm is combined with congestion control to achieve the optimal utility and fairness of competing flows. Simulations verify the effectiveness of the algorithm. Also, the adaptive CSMA scheduling is a modular MAC-layer algorithm that can be combined with various protocols in the transport layer and network layer. Four water samples were collected following accepted procedures from each of the three lakes Agara, Hebbal and Madiwala at different locations during the dry season month of February 2009 and rainy season month of July 2008. The levels of heavy and toxic metals As, Cu, Fe, Hg, Mn, Ni, Pb, Sb and Zn were determined using ICP-AES in sequential mode, and were found to be within the desirable and permissible limits. But the water samples of Hebbal and Agara lakes were found to be containing lead that was exceeding the desirable limit prescribed by WHO and Central Pollution Control Board and was more in the dry season samples than those in the rainy season. These two lakes are surrounded by motor ways leading to various parts of the country including the Ring road and National Highway-7, where there are heavy vehicular movements and are obvious major contributors in addition to those from multiplicities of urban developments.Keywords

Objective: This paper presents an isolated zeta converter fed switched reluctance motor(SRM) drive with power factor correction for low power applications. Methods: A single phase AC supply is given to the diode bridge rectifier followed by a isolated Zeta converter then frontend converter with Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) drive. Findings: To design the Power Factor Correction (PFC) isolated Zeta converter operated in Discontinuous Conduction Mode (DCM) for low power applications. For better current regulation, the input voltage is boosted without using any voltage are current sensors, we get both current and voltage wave forms are in phase. Improvement: For many variable speeds drives applications, the presented topology makes it a better choice due to power factor correction.Keywords

There are many different methods used to improve the stability of power systems. One of them is series compensation; it is the use of capacitance in series with the transmission lines. The addition of capacitance serves multiple purposes the most important being the improvement in the stability along the entire line and they are also found on long transmission lines used to improve voltage regulation. The series capacitors are provided with modern capacitor protection techniques Metal Oxide Varistors (MOV) to protect from high voltages that would be seen across their terminals when there is a faulty condition (very high currents).
Transient tests are to be performed on the model of power system for desired load flow and to obtain a steady state. For some faults, the transient performance of the system is analyzed. One of the major and hazardous disadvantage of series compensation is Sub-synchronous Resonance is considered and analyzed for various degrees of compensation.
In our project, we have built the simulations of the above mentioned systems and their transient performances are thoroughly analyzed and developed using MATLAB 7.0.1 and also using SIMULINK. The reason for choosing MATLAB is, it is a high-performance language for technical computing.
